Press Release: Structure fire, 1400 block of Fifth St, Alameda

On December 24, 2017, 12:37 pm, Alameda Fire responded to a report of a residential structure fire on the 1400 block of Fifth Street.  First arriving crews found fire in a two-story dwelling. Firefighters searched for occupants while other crews worked to control the fire.  The occupant was able to evacuate prior to the arrival of firefighters.  The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported.  There were 18 firefighters that responded.
Fire damage was confined to the first floor with extension up a wall into the attic.  There was heat and smoke damage throughout the structure.  One adult occupant was displaced and received assistance from the Red Cross. 

An AFD Fire investigator is working to determine the fire cause and origin.
