3 injured in crash



Sheriff Richard Behnke reports that on 12/24/2017 at 2030 hrs. his office was called to a crash that occurred on US 12 and Fir RD in Milton Township, Cass County Michigan. 28 yr old Niles resident, Rayvon Collins, was West bound on US 12 when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center lane hitting another car head on. In Mr. Collins vehicle his passenger 22 yr old Elkhart resident had minor injuries from the crash and was transported to Memorial Hospital. Also in his vehicle was his 7 month and 2 yr old children but no injuries had resulted from the crash to them. In the second vehicle that was heading East on US 12, 24 yr old Elkhart resident, Vanessa Vela who was driver had no reported injuries. Her father 50 yr old Bernardino Vela who was transported to Elkhart General for chest pains. Also in Ms. Vela vehicle was her 10 month old child who had minor injuries but was transported to Elkhart General as well. Seat belts were worn and intoxicants are not a factor. Weather and road condition where a factor on this accident.
