On December 19, 2017 at approximately 1:05 pm, SVPD Officers responded to a report of hazardous chemicals left in a dumpster outside of a residence at the 1700 block of Damon St. The Ventura County Fire Department Hazardous Materials Unit responded and determined the area safe from hazardous chemicals.
However, during their investigation, the HAZ MAT unit located a suspicious package in the residence. The Ventura County Sherriff’s Bomb Squad responded and inspected the package. The package contained old blasting caps used for commercial purposes. The Bomb Squad collected the blasting caps for safe disposal.
The area has been rendered safe and residents are free to return home.
