Advisory

A Thank You Note Directly From The Desk Of Sheriff Victor Hill.

To my fellow Clayton Americans:

One of my favorite movies is about a Sheriff here in Georgia named Lamar Potts who was Sheriff of Coweta County in the 1940’s. This movie (“Murder In Coweta County”) is based on a true story, and in my humble opinion is the epitome of what we now refer to as “community policing”.   There is a scene in the movie where Sheriff Potts ask for his community to help him catch some murderers. The entire town showed up in front of the courthouse ready to help the Sheriff catch those involved.  That scene reminded me of the romantic era of the western Sheriff who would “round up a posse” of citizens who would help their Sheriff confront outlaws.  I am proud that we have that same kind spirit here in Clayton County with citizens willing to do the same at a moments request.

Last Thursday, I asked the Clayton County Community to help me help 65 displaced families that lost everything in a apartment fire.  The response was overwhelming and I thank you all for helping us help others in need.

There have also been many times that I have pulled over a car, or was the first on the scene of an incident and had the honor of citizens pulling over to help me out before my Deputies arrived.   Thank you all for always being willing to help my Deputies and I take back our streets.

At a time in our history where distractors seek daily to create division between law-enforcement and the community,  Clayton County is a shining example of what can happen when good people and law-enforcement fight outlaws together instead of fighting each other.

May God bless each and everyone of you, and may God continue to bless Clayton County.

Sheriff Victor Hill
