On December 15, 2017, at 8:46 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a report of a fight between two semi truck drivers at the Flying J Truck Stop. Officers from the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Branch Police Department, Haubstadt Police Department, and the Indiana Department of Conservation were all sent to investigate the matter after the initial caller reported one of the drivers to be armed with a handgun.

Upon arriving Deputy Jennifer Loesch assisted in separating the drivers and began a roadside investigation. At the end of her investigation 20 year old Michael Rice of Phoenix, Arizona was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. At the Gibson County Jail Mr. Rice was charged with Battery and Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon. He remains in custody on a $2,500 bond.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
