Advisory

Increased Staffing & Response Levels for the Red Flag Warning on December 15-17

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for this weekend. It is likely that gusty northerly winds will combine with very low humidity values to create critical fire conditions.

These conditions, along with the fact that several fire departments, including the Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD), have resources committed to fires in Southern California, have led to us to adjust our response levels and staffing for the weekend. The number of units that respond to vegetation fires will increase to our peak fire season standard. The ACFD will be staffing an additional Type III Engine and Bulldozer Friday evening through Sunday.

Cal Fire has informed us they will be adding a Type I helicopter (at the Livermore Airport), a Type III Engine Strike Team and a Type II Dozer Strike Team into their Santa Clara Unit, which includes Alameda County, Contra Costa County & Santa Clara County. Cal Fire will also suspend all agricultural burn permits in the Unit.

The ACFD has 34 personnel (seven Engine companies, two Strike Team Leaders, two Strike Team Leader Trainees and two Safety Officers) deployed to fires in Southern California.

All ACFD stations are fully staffed and we expect full reimbursement via the California Office of Emergency Services for mutual aid.
