San Leandro Police Officer's Association to give away over 500 bikes to children this Saturday in "Bikes for Tykes" charity event

The San Leandro Police Officer’s Association is pleased to announce that approximately $28,000 was raised through fundraising efforts, grants, and local business donations to purchase bicycles from the Walmart store on Hesperian Blvd. in San Leandro and approximately 520 bicycles will be given away to local underprivileged children on Saturday, December 16 from 9 am to 1 pm at the Davis Street Family Resource Center, located at 3081 Teagarden Street. The San Leandro Kiwanis Club purchased all of the helmets through their own fundraising efforts.

These low-income families register with the Davis Street Family Resource Center in November and enter their children’s names in a computerized lottery. This year approximately over 1600 children’s names were entered into the computerized lottery and approximately 520 names were drawn who are the lucky winners of the free bicycles/helmets.

I am very fortunate to be supported by the San Leandro Police Officer's Association, the San Leandro Kiwanis Club, Walmart and the San Leandro community whose efforts all make this possible to brighten the holiday season for local kids in need.
