The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
December 7th
0713 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated an auto burglary on the 37300 block of Cedar Boulevard. The loss was a gym bag.
0741 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated an auto burglary on the 8300 block of Central Avenue. The loss was a backpack.
1624 Hours: Officer Fredstrom accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 60-year-old Newark male for embezzlement at the Home Depot, 5401 Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.
1626 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated three auto burglaries in the Macy’s, NewPark Mall parking lot. The loss was backpacks, laptop computers and soccer equipment.
December 8th
1528 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated a shoplifting incident that occurred at Macy’s, NewPark Mall. A 33-year-old San Francisco male was issued a citation for petty theft and released at the scene.
1618 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated a hit and run accident on Cherry Street at George Avenue. The suspect vehicle was located on Olive Avenue. The driver, an 18-year-old Newark female was issued a citation and her vehicle was towed from the scene.
1915 Hours: Officer Wallace responded to a disturbance on the 6100 block of Thornton Avenue. A 33-year-old Oakland female who is restrained from the property was causing damage to the residence. The suspect left the scene prior to the Officers arrival.
1937 Hours: Officers responded to Nijo Castle, 39888 Balentine Drive for two subjects looking in vehicles with flashlights. The suspects were not located.
2046 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated a hit and run accident on the 35800 block of Orleans Drive.
December 9th
1019 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance at Aloft Motel, 8200 Gateway Boulevard. A 38-year-old Patterson male was contacted and arrested on his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
1043 Hours: Officer Quinonez investigated the theft of an iPhone 8 and 8+ from T-Mobile, 35020 Newark Boulevard.
1545 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated the theft of a Blue 2010 Chevrolet Camaro (CA License# 6LCJ005) on the 6300 block of Portrero Drive.
1521 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 6300 block of Montcalm Avenue. A 34-year-old Newark male was arrested for battery and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
1735 Hours: Officers responded to an auto verses motorcycle injury accident on the 37200 block of Cedar Boulevard. One person was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
2158 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated the theft of a Blue 1997 Honda Civic (CA License #5AFR692) from the NewPark Mall parking lot.
2209 Hours: Officer Slavazza responded to a disturbance on the 38200 block of Aralia Drive. A 29-year-old Newark male was arrested for battery and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.
December 10th
0852 Hours: Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 30-year-old Newark male for being a Felon in possession of ammunition and firing three shots into the victim’s unoccupied vehicle after an argument on the 37100 block of Spruce Street. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
0907 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated a case of credit fraud on the 5700 block of Wintergreen Drive. An unknown person(s) opened charge accounts in the victim’s name.
1132 Hours: Officer Wang seized the license plates off a vehicle for false registration in the NewPark Mall parking lot. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
