The Ketchikan Gateway Borough is experiencing water loss in the South Tongass Water System due to water line leaks.  Utility operators are working diligently to maintain the current water supply and inspect the distribution system.  Until the cause of the shortage has been determined, it is imperative that water users minimize their water usage immediately and check their home systems for drips and leaks.   Water users are recommended to check all piping underneath their houses for potential leaks during cold weather events and report excessive usage to the Borough Public Works Department at 228-6670.
