Update #LASD, Creek Fire Mandatory Evacs for Residents, Office of Emergency Management, Crescenta Valley Station

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel reports  the “Creek Fire” is now at 4,000 acres with zero percent containment near Sylmar and Lake View Terrace, Angeles National Forest. There are 400 Firefighters and 50 Fire engines are on-scene.  Approximately 2,500 homes and several schools in the surrounding area have been evacuated.  The 210 (Foothill) Freeway remains open in both directions for evacuees and for emergency vehicle personnel.    
 
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Community College Bureau personnel reports Mission College located at 13356 Eldridge Avenue, Sylmar, East Campus has been evacuated.  The fire has reached the campus and no structures threatened.  There were no injuries reported.  Los Angeles Fire Department personnel are on-scene.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's, County Services Bureau personnel reports the “Olive View- UCLA Medical Center” located at 14445 Olive View Drive, Sylmar has been ordered to remain in place.” There are 217 patients and 176 in-patients and 41 patients in the Emergency Room.  Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is on scene.

**Original Press Release**
At 3:48 a.m., a brush fire broke out in the Angeles National Forest.  The fire moved into the Los Angeles County area of Sylmar and into the city of Los Angeles. The Creek Fire has burned approximately 1000 acres and is 0 percent contained.  The following is information about mandatory evacuations and road closures.

Instructions:

Your personal safety is of utmost importance to us. In the event you are told to evacuate, please follow the instructions of deputies and firefighters. Notifications will be made via numerous outlets. However, if you feel your life is in danger prior to the announcement of mandatory evacuations, please self-evacuate. When the mandatory evacuation order is issued, residents in the following areas MUST evacuate:


 
Evacuations (Mandatory by Sheriff’s Department)
  • Little Tujunga Canyon
  • Kagel Canyon
  • Lopez Canyon
Voluntary Evac:
Sayre to 5/14FWY split (north of 210)


Road Closures:
  • Little Tujunga Canyon Road b/t Foothill Boulevard and Placerita Canyon / Sand Canyon Roads
  • Kagel Canyon Road
  • Lopez Canyon Road
  • Foothill Blvd / Osborne Street

Sunland Senior Center, 8640 Fenwick Street, Tujunga

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department wants to remind residents to be aware of wild animals that may be driven from their habitat due to the Creek Fire. These wild animals may be heading towards fire impacted communities.
