Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau detectives arrested 27-year-old Zhongqiang Meng, a resident of Rosemead, in connection with the murder of a Hispanic man in his 50’s last night, November 23, 2017, in the 8000 block of Emerson Place in the city of Rosemead. 
 
The victim was gunned down in his driveway as he returned home. Investigators identified Suspect Meng as the shooter and took him into custody early this morning after Meng turned himself in to officers at the Monterey Park Police Department.  
 
Suspect Meng was transported to Temple Sheriff’s Station where he was booked for murder and is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.

Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult that occurred in the 8000 block of Emerson Place in the city of Rosemead.

Around 6:30 PM on Thursday, November 23, 2017 Temple Station deputies responded to the location regarding a call of an assault with a deadly weapon victim down. Upon arriving they discovered the victim. The victim suffered at least one gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced dead at the location by responding Los Angeles County Fire personnel.

The murder weapon was not recovered. There is no suspect description at this time.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are responding to the 8900 block of Emerson Street, Rosemead, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
