The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

November 16th

0649 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated a garage burglary on the 37100 block of Sycamore Street. The loss is unknown at this time.

0652 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated an auto burglary at the Comfort Inn, 5977 Mowry Avenue. The loss is miscellaneous tools and equipment.

1958 Hours: Officer Rivera investigated an auto burglary that occurred at Maya’s Fashion, 39267 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is a Microsoft Surface tablet and two hard drives.

2020 Hours: Officer Hunter issued a citation to a 37-year-old Oakland female for expired vehicle registration and for parking in a handicapped space with a handicapped placard that did not belong to her. The placard was seized and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

2114 Hours: Officer Hunter responded to Macy’s, NewPark Mall for a shoplifter in custody. The suspect, a 36-year-old transient male was issued a citation for shoplifting and arrested for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

November 17th

0900 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 50-year-old Newark female for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on the 6000 block of Amador Place. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

0900 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Fremont female on the 6000 block of Amador Place for possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1540 Hours: Officer Knutson accepted the citizen’s arrest of a shoplifter in custody at Macy’s, NewPark Mall. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

2112 Hours: Officer Slavazza issued a citation to a 28-year-old Newark female for purposely placing false registration tabs on her vehicle to avoid registration fees on Newark Boulevard at Highway 84. The plates were seized and placed into evidence.

2148 Hours: During a traffic stop on Mayhews Landing Road at Christine Street, Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Fremont male for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2212 Hours: Officer Piquette and Field Training Officer Arroyo contacted and arrested a 33-year-old Oakland male for public intoxication on the 7200 block of Gateway Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

November 18th

0954 Hours: Officer Pacheco conducted a pedestrian stop on George Avenue at Mulberry Street and subsequently arrested a 37-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1518 Hours: Sergeant Todd contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Newark male for driving without a license and not having satisfactory evidence of his identity on Thornton Avenue at Elm Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2156 Hours: Officer Piquette investigated an auto burglary in the Newark Memorial High School parking lot. The loss is unknown at this time.

2340 Hours: Officer Khairy responded to a non-injury auto accident on the 37100 block of Locust Street where a vehicle had collided with two parked vehicles. The driver, a 33-year-old Fremont male was arrested for driving under the influence and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

0515 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 20-year-old Newark female for driving under the influence and disorderly conduct on Filbert Street at Wells Avenue. Officer Losier responded to assist Officer Slavazza and subsequently arrested a 21-year-old Fremont male for being drunk in public and resisting / delaying an Officer in the course of their duty. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

November 19th

1043 Hours: Officer Taylor and Reserve Officer Germano contacted and arrested a 25-year-old San Leandro male for his outstanding warrant at the Silliman Center, 6800 Mowry Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1423 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated a package theft on the 38900 block of Primula Terrace. The loss is internal power pack for a home computer.

1633 Hours: Officer Nobbe contacted and arrested a 25-year-old and a 23-year-old male, both from Newark for having open containers of alcohol in a prohibited area. Both suspects were issued citations and released.

1852 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 22-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrants and possession of drug paraphernalia on the 7900 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1913 Hours: Officer Piquette accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 21-yer-old Reno male for shoplifting at Macy’s, NewPark Mall. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2008 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated a window smash vehicle burglary on Cherry Street near Buena Vista Drive. The loss is a silver necklace.
