On November 16th, 2017 at approximately 11:20 p.m. Officer Jeff Beck observed a 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera fail to signal a turn on Vine Street in Fort Branch. Officer Beck stopped the vehicle and Sgt. John Fischer with the Gibson County Sheriff`s Office was also present right after the stop was made. Officer Beck and Sgt. John Fischer identified the driver as Herbert L. Reed, of Fort Branch. While speaking with Mr. Reed Sgt. Fischer detected the odor of alcohol coming from his breath and or person. Sgt. Fischer opened a roadside investigation and found probable cause to believe Mr. Reed had operated a vehicle while intoxicated. Sgt. Fischer read Indiana`s Implied Consent Warning to Mr. Reed and he refused the chemical test. Sgt. Fischer transported Mr. Reed to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and issued a citation for failure to signal.
