Grand Opening Open House & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Alameda Fire Station #3 and Emergency Operations Center

The Alameda Fire Department and Public Works are hosting a grand opening open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Fire Station #3 and Emergency Operations Center.

WHAT:     Please join new Alameda Fire Chief Edmond Rodriguez for a walk through of the new facilities and light refreshments

WHERE:  1625 Buena Vista Avenue/1809 Grand Street, Alameda

WHEN:     Saturday, December 2, 2017, 1:00-3:00 pm

Fire Chief Edmond Rodriguez is coming to Alameda with 29 years of experience in the fire service after serving as Fire Chief for the City of Salinas since 2012. In Salinas, he supervised a staff of 101 sworn and civilian personnel, administered a budget of $21 million, and oversaw a complete rebuild of that organization; he has also served twice as President of the Monterey County Fire Chief’s Association. Prior to joining the City of Salinas, Rodriguez served the City of Stockton for over 24 years, most recently as the Deputy Fire Chief of Operations; he has also served as a Flight Nurse/Paramedic for Medi-Flight of Modesto and California Shock Trauma Rescue (Calstar).

Fire Station #3 is 9,000 square foot facility that houses one engine company and includes a living quarters, two apparatus bays, a conference room, and a public lobby. This fire station has replaced the existing rented building that had accommodated firefighting operation activities.

The Emergency Operations Center is a two-floor, 3,400 square foot facility that provides a central command and communications facility for the City’s Emergency Operations team to serve the community in the event of a disaster. It includes offices, breakout rooms, restrooms, showers, and informational screens to provide timely information to emergency responders. It has an open, flexible floor plan with room for 50 individuals staffed from all City departments during a major emergency event.
