On Wednesday November 15, 2017, at approximately 11:00 PM Turlock Police responded to the 1600 block of Lander Avenue for a vehicle versus bicyclist collision. When they arrived they found a 47 year old male bicyclist who had sustained major injuries. He was declared deceased by medical personnel on scene.

Investigators from the Turlock Police Major Accident Investigation Team responded. Preliminary investigation is that the bicyclist was riding his bicycle while carrying a box and crossing Lander Avenue mid-block, south of Linwood Avenue. He rode in front of a vehicle that was southbound on Lander Avenue. The 64 year old male driver attempted to stop, but the bicyclist was struck. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor on the part of the driver; however, they do appear to be a factor on the part of the bicyclist. The driver stopped immediately and is cooperating with investigators.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
