It is the holiday season and many of you are getting a start on your Christmas shopping, which means thieves will be too. Prevent becoming a victim! Be on guard and vigilant this holiday season.
Prevent Theft
- Be aware of your surroundings. Don't be distracted by your cell phone. Keep purses and bags zipped, snapped and closed.
- Avoid carrying large amounts of cash and credit cards
- Secure your vehicle. Do not leave valuables (such as purses, wallets, cell phones) in plain view.
- Do not carry your social security card in your wallet or purse.
- Make sure payments are over a secure WiFi connection. Don't check bank balances using public Wi-Fi.
- Ensure the payment site is secure (Look for the padlock symbol in the browser window frame and https.)
- Check your account statements more frequently.
