Sheriff Richard J Behnke reports on 11/08/17 at approximately 2139 hours deputies from Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a three car personal injury accident at the intersection of US12 and Gumwood Road. Investigation shows Angel Felife Magana-Tejeda (24 year old of Niles, MI) driving eastbound on US12 approaching Gumwood Rd when a second vehicle driven by Carol Roeder (63 year old of Fishers, IN) failed to yield to oncoming traffic which resulted in the collison. A third vehicle was at the stop sign northbound on Gumwood, when the two other vehicles collided with it. Roeder was transported by SMCAS Ambulance to St. Joseph Medical Center for injuries. All other individuals involved were treated and released from the scene. Seat belts were was at the time of the crash and airbags deployed. Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash. Deputies were assisted by Niles Twp Fire Department and SMCAS Ambulance. This crash remains under investigation.
