The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

November 6th

1006 Hours: Officer Quinonez investigated an auto burglary on the 37000 block of Edith Street. The loss is a small air compressor and the vehicle registration.

1101 Hours: Officer Allum investigated a multi-vehicle injury accident on Central Avenue at Filbert Street. The injured party was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

1432 Hours: While performing a security check at NewPark Mall, Officer Mavrakis was flagged down about a suspicious vehicle. Officer Mavrakis located the vehicle and initiated a probation search and K9 sniff of the vehicle. The driver, a 32-year-old Union City male was issued a citation for possession of heroin, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and was released at the scene.

2012 Hours: Officer Cervantes investigated a window smash auto burglary at the Lion Center, 39055 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is three backpacks that contained laptop computers.

0153 Hours: Officer Lenz contacted and arrested a 59-year-old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation on Normandy Drive at Provance Street. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
