Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Friday, 11/3/17, through Sunday, 11/5/17.

Good morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 11/3/17, through Sunday, 11/5/17.

11/3/17

-FM 3261 at Cactus Dr, Levelland: Roadway Obstruction. A deputy was dispatched to the area to locate debris in the roadway. A tree limb was removed. FM 3261 was checked from Hwy 114 at FM 1585 and no other obstructions were located.
-6700 blk Hwy 114, Smyer: Civil Issue. Deputies responded to an address in the area related to civil papers to be served related to a juvenile issue. The individuals were not located at the residence.
-Hwy 84 at FM 168, Anton: Assist DPS. A deputy was dispatched to assist a trooper on a traffic contact. One individual was transported to the jail for the trooper.
-2300 blk E Ellis, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy responded to the area related to a verbal disturbance at a residence. None of the parties reported any offenses, and the disturbance was determined to be verbal only. Parties were separated.
-3000 blk W. Houston, Levelland: Animal Complaint. A deputy responded to a residence related to a missing dog. The complainant believed a neighbor had taken his dog. After meeting with the neighbor, it was determined the neighbor did not have the dog, and parties explained the dog does get loose from time to time. No offenses were reported.
-4900 blk Alaska Rd, Levelland: Check Welfare. A deputy met with complainants in Levelland about a welfare check of an acquaintance at a residence on Alaska Rd. They were concerned about her not being able to leave the residence. Deputies met with the individual at the residence, and the individual reported no offenses. Nothing of concern was observed by deputies and the individual was left with a family member.
-N Alamo Rd at Florida Rd, Levelland: Welfare Check. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a vehicle stopped in the roadway. Deputies contacted the driver and initiated an investigation into a DWI offense. The individual was later placed under arrest for the DWI offense and transported to the jail.

11/4/17

-FM 300 at FM 303, Levelland: Loose Livestock. A deputy responded to the area to locate loose livestock. The area was checked and none were located.
-4200 blk Quail Rd, Ropesville: Burglary of Vehicle. A deputy was dispatched to a residence in the area related to a burglary offense. A complainant reported several items were taken from vehicles. A report was completed and the incident is under investigation.
-1800 blk Kelly Rd, Levelland: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to the area to assist with loose horses. On arrival all of the horses had been secured.
-1800 blk Hwy 385, Levelland: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a reported reckless driver on Hwy 114 north of Levelland. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located.
-Hwy 385 at Kansas Rd, Whitharral: Roadway Obstruction. A deputy responded to the area related to a dead animal in the roadway. The animal was removed and the roadway was cleared.
-6200 blk Hwy 114, Smyer: Roadway Obstruction. A deputy was dispatched to assist with a large hay bale in the roadway. The owner of the bale was on scene and the obstruction was cleared.
-US 62/82 near Ropesville: Assist EMS. A deputy responded to assist after a bicyclist hit a parked vehicle along the roadway. The cyclist refused EMS assistance and no damage was reported.
-US 62/82 at Owl Rd, Ropesville: Disturbance. A deputy responded to a disturbance in the area. A caller advised a couple was arguing and one of the parties walked away near the highway. The individuals were located at a residence in the area and no offenses were observed or reported.
-1300 blk Avenue H, Levelland: Disturbance. Deputies heard a disturbance at a building in the area. On arrival, they were notified an individual was asked to leave. The individual was escorted off of the property. No other incidents were reported.
-Bear Rd at Lovebird Rd, Smyer: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was notified of possible illegal hunting activity in the area. Individuals were contacted on their property. No offenses were reported.
-Hwy 114 at Spade Ranch, Smyer: Suspicious Activity. A deputy responded to the area to attempt to locate an individual walking along the highway. The individual advised he was involved in a verbal argument and was walking to a family member’s residence in Levelland. The individual was transported to a residence in Levelland.

11/5/17

-3700 blk US 62/82, Ropesville: Stolen Vehicle. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered by Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies. Reports were completed and the investigation is ongoing.
-6900 blk Elk Rd, Smyer: Burglary. A deputy responded to the area related to a burglary offense. A report was completed and the incident is under investigation.
-Hwy 114 at Barton Ln, Levelland: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a loose emu. After locating the emu, it was roped and secured back on the property.
-100 blk Arnett, Ropesville: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy responded to attempt to locate a suspicious vehicle in the area. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located.
-200 blk Main St, Anton: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was notified of an individual walking in the area. The area was checked and no one was located. No offenses were reported.
-Hwy 385 at Florida Rd, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. Deputies assisted on scene of a vehicle crash. Traffic control was provided while the scene was worked.
-FM 1585 at FM 3261, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. A deputy responded to a vehicle crash in the area. One individual was transported to an area hospital. Troopers arrived and worked the crash investigation.
Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols throughout the county, investigative follow-up activities, and civil process service.

Jail population as of 11/6/17 at 0800 hours: 51 in Hockley County, 7 out of county.
