Today, between 8 and 10 AM, two occupied residential burglaries occurred in the 1000 block of Barrett Street North.
In the first burglary, about 8:20 a.m., the suspect entered an unlocked back door while one of the residents was outside shoveling. After the entering the home, the suspect was confronted by another resident. The victim and suspect struggled with one another. The victim did sustain a minor injury that required medical treatment at a local hospital. The suspect fled and was not located.
Investigators believe the same suspect then went to a home about one block away (also on Barrett Street). Around 8:30 a.m., the suspect knocked on the door, which was answered by the elderly female resident. The suspect pushed his way into the victim's home, ultimately tying the hands and feet of the woman and her 4-year-old granddaughter. The suspect was inside the home for about one hour, before fleeing in the victim's car. The woman and her granddaughter were not injured.
The victim's car is described as a blue Chevrolet Lumina, 4 door sedan, bearing Minnesota license VMA 131. As of this writing, the car has not been located.
