On October 28, 2017, at 2:24 a.m. Deputy Ben Kiesel was dispatched to the Marathon “Fastbreak” convenience store located at 805 E Oak Street in Fort Branch, Indiana in reference to an intoxicated male inside the business. Upon arriving Deputy Kiesel spoke with the reporting party and located the intoxicated male sitting in a running Yellow 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Upon speaking with 40 year old Robert Hopkins of Fort Branch Deputy Kiesel detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver. At that point Deputy Kiesel began a roadside investigation that resulted in Mr. Hopkins being taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Mr. Hopkins was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated/ Refusal. Mr. Hopkins remains in custody on a $650 bond.
