Freeze Warning until 09:00AM Saturday

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM TODAY WEST OF A SHERMAN TO ENNIS TO TEMPLE LINE. A FREEZE WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT LATE TONIGHT AND INTO SATURDAY MORNING NORTH AND WEST OF A COMANCHE TO GLEN ROSE TO DECATUR TO EMORY LINE... .Much colder air will continue to filter into North and Central Texas today on gusty north winds behind a powerful cold front. The coldest night of the fall is expected tonight, and subfreezing temperatures are anticipated for parts of the area. The freeze watch has therefore been upgraded to a freeze warning. ...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM CDT THIS MORNING... ...FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 9 AM CDT SATURDAY... The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Freeze Warning, which is in effect from 1 AM to 9 AM CDT Saturday. The Freeze Watch is no longer in effect.

* TIMING...Through 10 AM today for strong winds, and late tonight through Saturday morning for subfreezing temperatures.

* WINDS...Sustained north winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to near 40 mph this morning.

* TEMPERATURE...Low temperatures of 28-33 degrees late Friday night and Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Strong crosswinds on east-west oriented roadways may make driving difficult, primarily for lightweight and high profile vehicles. Loose outdoor objects may be blown about in the wind. Sensitive plants may be damaged or killed if left unprotected Friday night and Saturday morning. Some frost may also occur where temperatures do not quite reach freezing.

Instructions:

A Freeze Warning means that the seasons first episode of sub- freezing temperatures are likely to occur. These conditions will kill sensitive plants and residents are advised to protect tender vegetation. Automatic sprinkler systems should also be turned off to avoid creating ice patches on nearby roads...driveways...and sidewalks. A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 20 to 30 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. Boaters should use extra caution when venturing onto area lakes. Residents may wish to take action to secure trash cans...lawn furniture...and other lightweight outdoor objects that may be blown around in the strong winds.
