Advisory

Flood Watch until 05:00AM Monday

...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE SUNDAY NIGHT... The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of northwest Washington and west central Washington, including the following counties, in northwest Washington, Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason, Skagit, and Whatcom. In west central Washington, King, Lewis, Snohomish, and Thurston.

* From Saturday afternoon through late Sunday night

* Heavy rain is forecast to fall Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. The period of heaviest rain will be Saturday night with the focus of rainfall in the Cascades from about Stevens Pass southward. less rain is forecast for the North Cascades and Olympics. There is still a chance the heavy rain could spread to the northern Cascades and Olympics. The flood watch remains in effect for all counties in Western Washington with the exception of Island and San Juan counties.

* Minor flooding is forecast on most rivers flowing out of the Cascades from the Skykomish River southward, with a few rivers cresting in the moderate flood category. Other rivers in the area could also flood. In addition, urban and small stream flooding is possible beginning Saturday night.

* The headwaters of Greenwater River is in the Norse Peak Fire burn scar and could see greater than normal flows with heavy rain.

* Soil moisture is still relatively dry below the surface since there has not been enough rainfall accumulation over a long enough period yet this wet season. While an isolated landslide is possible in western Washington with any rainstorm, and especially with high intensity rain, soil moisture conditions have not yet significantly increased the landslide threat. This storm will bring conditions close to that threshold. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. &&

* AFFECTED AREAS: CLALLAM ... GRAYS HARBOR ... JEFFERSON ... KING ... KITSAP ... LEWIS ... MASON
