October 10th

Shoplifter / Warrant Arrest - (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1318 hours, an officer contacted a suspicious person in the parking lot of Safeway. The subject, a 53-year-old Oakland man had just stolen four 4 cases of Red Bulls and some lunch items. He was also wanted on a theft warrant. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 1800 block of Key Blvd:
An officer recovered the silver 1994 Honda Accord reported as stolen to the ECPD.

October 11th

Grand Theft from Person - (Starbucks) 3090 EC Plaza:
At 1246 hours, an officer responded to the report of a grand theft. The victim was using her laptop and listening to her head phones. The suspect, a black male, approximately 20-years-old, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, grabbed the computer and head phones off the victim’s head and fled to a white four door vehicle.

October 12th

Shoplifting - (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1332 hours, Officers responded to the report of a subject stealing from the store and fleeing on a bicycle. An officer had just detained a 39-year-old transient male riding a girls bicycle at Wall Ave. The subject was identified, placed under citizen’s arrest and booked. In booking he was released on a citation.

Robbery - (CVS) 10650 San Pablo Ave:
At 1414 hours, Officers responded to the report of a subject wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, wig, white mask and black jeans stealing from the store. The manager told the subject to leave the store and he refused. She physically held onto a secured SD card on the rack and told him not to steal it but he forcibly ripped it out of her hands. Officers were flagged down by the manager of 6495 Portola Dr. about a man dressed like a woman changing clothes behind the apartments and then hopping the fence. A 21-year-old man from San Francisco was contacted nearby. He had removed his Afro style wig and changed his shirt. He was identified, placed under citizen’s arrest, booked and transported to the MDF. This is his sixth ECPD arrest in the last 5 months.

Methamphetamine Possession - 1300 block of Liberty Street:
At 1510 hours, officers responded to the report of a suspicious acting transient wandering in the street and talking to himself. Officers contacted a 53-year-old transient and offered to take him to the homeless outreach center. Prior to departing, he was asked if he had anything illegal on him and the subject surrendered his stash of methamphetamine. He was field cited and transported to the Rescue Mission.

Warrant Arrest - Central Ave / I-80:
At 2208 hours an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and contacted a 38-year-old Berkeley woman. It was determined the woman had a misdemeanor warrant. The woman was arrested and transported to ECPD for processing and subsequently cite released.

Shoplifting, Public Intoxication - (Lucky) 1000 EC Plaza:
At 0002 hours Officers were sent to the business on a report of a theft of alcoholic beverages that had just occurred. Upon arrival a 56-year-old transient man was contacted. It was determined the man had stolen beer and was intoxicated. A Citizen Arrest was obtained for the theft and the man was booked into County Jail.

Narcotics Possession - San Pablo Ave / Moeser Ln:
At 0042 hours an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and contacted a 36-year-old Richmond woman. It was determined the woman was in possession of methamphetamine, a glass smoking pipe and burglary tools. The woman was transported to ECPD for processing and subsequently cite released.

October 13th

Auto Burglary – 700 block of Kearney St:
An unknown suspect shattered the victim’s vehicle window and stole a backpack with rock climbing equipment. The crime occurred between 10/12/17 2020 hours to 10/13/17 0746 hours.

Auto Burglary – 9895 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 0830 hours, an unknown suspect shattered the victim’s vehicle window and stole a purse containing almost $10,000 in jewelry. The suspect vehicle is described as a black BMW sedan with paper plates.

Auto Burglary – 4010 EC Plaza:
An unknown suspect shattered the victim’s vehicle window and stole a backpack containing a laptop computer and (3) iPad Air 2’s. The crime occurred between 0745-0855 hours.

Negligent Discharge of a Firearm into a Residence – 800 block S. 55th St:
An unknown suspect negligently discharged a firearm into a residence. The round struck the victim’s rear sliding glass door, shattering it. The crime occurred between 10/12/17 2030 hours to 10/13/17 0800 hours.

Warrant Arrest - San Pablo Ave / Knott Avenue:
At 2052 hours and officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 46-year-old Vallejo man for an outstanding warrant out Mountain View PD. The man was booked into County Jail.

DUI, Collision - San Pablo Avenue / Central Avenue:
At 2133 hours officers were dispatched to a 3 car collision. During the investigation the officer determined the driver at fault, a 26-year-old Richmond woman, was driving under the influence. The woman was arrested, transported to ECPD and subsequently released on a citation to a family member.

Shoplifting - (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 2259 hours officers responded to Walgreens on a reported theft that had occurred. The suspect had fled in a white Mercedes Benz with no license plates. Employee reported a subject had jumped the cash register and stole two boxes of Backwoods cigars. An RPD officer located the suspect vehicle at Mcdonald Ave / 31st Street. The suspect, an 18-year-old Richmond man, was identified, found to be in possession o f the property and was arrested. The man was transported to ECPD for processing. The man was subsequently issued a citation and released.

October 14th

Fail to Register as a Sex Offender – 670 EC Plaza:
An El Cerrito Police officer contacted a 40-year-old transient male riding a bicycle and learned that he failed to register as a sex offender for over a year. The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the County Jail in Martinez.

Arson – 11720 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 1345 hours, an unknown suspect set a stack of papers on fire, which scorched the door and wall at the business/apartment complex. The suspect is described as a black male adult, 5’11, dreadlocks, beard, last seen walking northbound on the BART path, carrying a pile of blankets.

Shoplifting, Possession of Controlled Substances and Drug Paraphernalia – (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
El Cerrito police officers responded to Walgreens for a theft that just occurred. The suspect was located inside the Dollar Tree store and was positively identified as the suspect who stole from Walgreens. A 34-year-old male from Richmond was placed under citizen’s arrest and had numerous Walgreen’s concealed in his pockets and in his backpack. The male also had methamphetamine, cocaine, and a glass smoking pipe. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Assault on an Officer, Narcotics possession, Warrant - Potrero Ave / S. 56th St:
At 2303 hours an officer attempted to stop a bicyclist for vehicle code violations. The bicyclist fled on the bicycle and after a short pursuit, abandoned the bicycle and fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued and when the officer caught up to the suspect, the suspect physically resisted the officer by kicking and punching him. The subject a 38-year-old Richmond man, was taken into custody and determined to be a parolee at large. The man also was in possession of a controlled substance. The man was booked into County Jail.

Burglary of a Business - 10000 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 0021 hours officers were sent to a business on a report of the door being shattered. Upon arrival it was determined glass doors to the business had been shattered and the suspect made entry into the restaurant and stole merchandise. the glass doors had been shattered with a large rock. An interior search was conducted with the use of the K9 and nobody was located.

Warrant Arrest - (Dennys) 11344 San Pablo Ave:
At 0349 hours an officer was sent to the business in regard to an unwanted subject. Upon arrival a 36-year-old Richmond man was contacted and determined to have two misdemeanor warrants. The man was arrested and transported to ECPD for processing. The man was ultimately booked into County Jail in Martinez.

October 15th

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Ohio Ave:
At approximately, 1425 hours, an El Cerrito police officer detained a 20-year-old male from Richmond urinating in a bush. The male had a warrant out of Marin County for shoplifting. The male was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Public Intoxication – 10240 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 1611 hours, Officer Lee contacted a 57-year-old transient male sleeping on a public bench. The male was heavily intoxicated and unable to care for his safety. The male was directly transported to County Jail in Martinez.

Petty Theft – (Starbucks) 3090 EC Plaza:
At approximately 1640 hours, the victim left his phone on a table with his laptop. (S-1), (S-2) and (S-3) entered Starbucks. (S-1) grabbed the victims I-Phone ($300) as (S-2) and (S-3) held the doors open for him. The suspects got into a white Honda 4-door with a partial plate of SPJ95, which was parked on Liberty St at Fairmount Ave. The vehicle was driven by a (S-4), described only as a black female. The vehicle fled northbound on Liberty St. (S-1), (S-2) and (S-3) are described as black males, 15-18 years old, 5’10”, 160lbs., wearing all black clothing.

Warrant Arrests - (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1841 hours an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on a 38-year-old El Cerrito man. It was determined he had a misdemeanor warrant and he was arrested. A second subject, a 32-year-old El Cerrito woman, was also contacted and determined to have two misdemeanor warrants. They were both booked into County Jail.

DUI, Collision - San Pablo Ave / Moeser Ln:
At 1938 hours officers were sent to the area on a report of an automobile accident that had occurred. It was determined the driver, a 41-year-old Berkeley man, was at fault in the collision and was intoxicated. The man was arrested and cite and released from ECPD.
