Home invasion robbery, Drug trafficking arrest

In the early morning hours of Oct. 16th the Whitmire Police Department and Newberry Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a home invasion style robbery on Subertown Rd.

The victim reported that a black male around 5'10, medium build, wearing all black with a black covering over his face forcibly entered the residence and was in possession of a firearm. The suspect took items from the residence and fled in a white pickup truck.

Upon investigation of the robbery, officers smelled and observed a large quantity of narcotics in the residence and a search warrant was sought. Subsequently approximately 20 pounds of Marijuana was seized along with a large amount of currency. Whitmire Police have charged Jarvis Jamel Sligh 32, of Whitmire with Trafficking Marijuana.

The Whitmire Police Department and the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the robbery and are asking for the public’s assistance.
