Advisory

SMHS is once again placed on a "secure campus" protocol following another threat scribbled on a bathroom wall. The campus is deemed safe.

Friday, October 13, 2017- Once again, SMHS staff have found a bomb threat scribbled in a bathroom on campus.  Per safety protocol, staff immediately notified the San Mateo Police Department.

This is now the seventh time in just over a week in the District that random scribbled notes of this nature have been made in student bathrooms. These “copy-cat” threats continue to be a problematic trend throughout California.

With our children’s safety in mind, we erred on the side of caution and placed the school on a Big 5 “secure campus” status, meaning instruction continues but behind locked doors. Officers conducted a safety search of the campus and it was deemed safe.

With assistance from SMPD, SMHS staff are actively looking into procedures and tools to help prevent incidents like these from occurring.
