Press Release: Church Theft

LOCATION: First United Methodist Church of Oakhurst, 103 Monmouth Road

ACCUSED: Ernest C. Lathom, 40-year-old Male // Oakhurst, NJ
NARRATIVE:
On September 25th, 2017 the First United Methodist Church of Oakhurst reported that their brass collection plates were stolen from the church. Information was developed by Detective Jesse Orbach who identified the suspect as, Ernest Lathom.
Further investigation revealed that Lathom was in possession of the stolen collection plates along with a robe belonging to the Priest. He was arrested on October 10th in Oakhurst and was also found to be in possession of stolen property from a business in Asbury Park. He was processed and released on a criminal summons pending a future court appearance.
