San Mateo Police Officers are investigating a “Swatting” prank call we received this morning that caused a large police presence on the unit block of E 3rd Avenue.

San Mateo Police Dispatch received a call from a male around 11:30 a.m. Monday, October 9th, reporting that he saw two males with guns and masks enter a business in the unit block of E. 3rd Avenue. Officers quickly arrived and secured the area by shutting down vehicle and pedestrian traffic on E. 3rd Avenue between El Camino Real and San Mateo Drive. Officers searched the business and found the report to be not credible. Additionally, employees advised our officers that business was functioning as usual and no reports were made.
