Good Monday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 10/6/17, through Sunday, 10/8/17.

10/6/17

-3400 blk S. Hwy 385, Levelland: Alarm. Deputies were dispatched to an alarm at a residence in the area. The property was checked and the residence was secured.

-200 blk W. Ellwood, Anton: 911 Hang-Up. A deputy was dispatched to a residence related to multiple 911 calls. No address was given so deputies met with multiple residents in the area. The source of the calls was not located. No offenses were observed or reported.

-Hwy 385 at Ohio Rd, Whitharral: Loose Livestock. A deputy responded to a call of loose cattle. A loose cow was located and was secured. Contact was made with the owner.

-300 blk Duggan, Anton: Civil Issue. Deputies were dispatched to meet with a resident related to a civil matter over eviction processes. Civil remedies were explained. No offenses were reported.

-6400 blk Colorado Rd, Smyer: Shots Fired. Deputies responded to a call of shots being fired in the area. A caller reported a vehicle in the area. When deputies arrived, the vehicle was no longer in the area.

-Hwy 114 at Hummingbird Rd, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. A deputy responded to assist at the scene of a vehicle crash. Troopers arrived on scene and deputies assisted until the scene was cleared.

-Cactus at Crestview Dr., Levelland: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate an individual walking in the area with a rifle. It was later learned the individual was a juvenile walking with a stick. The area was checked and no individual was located with a firearm.

-FM 3261 at Robin Rd, Levelland: Disabled Vehicle. A deputy was notified of a vehicle stuck along the roadway. Another individual arrived and assisted in pulling the vehicle out. A deputy assisted until the roadway was cleared.

-6800 blk Parrot Rd, Ropesville: Alarm. A deputy was dispatched to an alarm call at an area business. The property was checked and was found to be secure.

10/7/17

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Civil Issue. A deputy was asked to call a complainant about a civil issue. Information was provided regarding an eviction and was directed to the appropriate court.

-800 blk Chickadee Rd, Levelland: Shots Fired. A deputy was dispatched to the area regarding possible gun shots. The deputy contacted residents and were found to be legally shooting. No offenses were observed or reported.

-5900 blk Hwy 114, Levelland: Loose Livestock. A deputy was notified to attempt to locate loose horses in the area. While en route, the owner contacted a deputy and notified him the horses were secured.

-FM 2378 at Hwy 114, Smyer: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a reckless driver along Hwy 114. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located.

-Avenue X at 20th St, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. Deputies were requested to attempt to locate a vehicle and suspect from a reported hit and run. The vehicle was located and Levelland PD took one individual into custody for the offense.

-2000 blk Tech Dr, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. A deputy was dispatched to a residence related to a possible assault. A Levelland PD unit was later able to respond and met with the complainant. The suspect was not on scene when the deputy arrived.

-1600 blk S. Veil, Sundown: Assault. A deputy was dispatched to a possible assault that occurred several months prior. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

10/8/17

-FM 303 at Justin Rd, Levelland: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to the area regarding loose cattle. The cattle were located and secured.

-300 blk W. 4th St, Sundown: Stolen Dog. A deputy was dispatched to meet with a complainant regarding a possible stolen animal. The dog was later located loose down the street.

-800 blk Hwy 385, Civil Issue. A deputy met with a complainant regarding a civil complaint over eviction process. Civil remedies were provided and the individual was directed to the appropriate court.

-100 blk Lacey Ln, Opdyke West: Hit and Run. A deputy was dispatched to a report of someone striking a parked vehicle and leaving the area. The vehicle was located and a report was taken for Duty on Striking. The incident is under investigation.

-100 blk Lawrence, Anton: Welfare Check. A deputy was notified of a subject who made suicide threats. The individual was later located in Smyer, and based on interviews with deputies, was released. Information was collected for a report.

-FM 3261 at FM 1585, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. A deputy was dispatched to assist with a vehicle crash in the area. The deputy remained on scene to assist while Troopers investigated.

-FM 41 at FM 168, Ropesville: Intoxicated Subject. A deputy was dispatched to the area regarding an intoxicated male lying on the roadway. The subject was contacted and was determined to be intoxicated. Witnesses were also interviewed on scene. The individual was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication and transported to the jail.

Deputies also completed close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities and civil process service.

Jail population as of 10/9/17 at 0800 hours: 53 in Hockley County, 3 to be processed, 4 out-of-county.
