Sheriff Richard J. Behnke of the Cass County Sheriff's Office reports that his deputies responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Calvin Center Rd. and Brownsville St. in Cass County's Penn Township. The crash occurred on 10-06-2017 at 7:30 am. The investigation showed that a vehicle driven by Dakota Lawson (18 yrs of Cassopolis) and his passenger Kassondra Milligan (19 yrs of Cassopolis) was attempting to turn westbound onto Brownsville St. when Lawson was struck by a vehicle heading southbound on Calvin Center St. The driver of the vehicle was Zachary Morehouse (25 yrs of Marcellus). Milligan was transferred to Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac by Life Care for her injuries. Both driver's and the passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Assisting the Cass County Sheriff's Office on scene were Penn Township Fire Dept, Michigan State Police and Life Care. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. This crash remains under investigation.
