During the trial, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Bina Desai and Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Simret Michael presented evidence and testimony showing Vasquez followed the victim from her new boyfriend’s house, waited for her while she stopped at Dunkin Donuts in Jamesburg and fired at her car when she turned onto Docks Corner Road in South Brunswick, but missed. He then proceeded to follow her into the parking lot of her work at 241 Docks Corner Road, in South Brunswick. He walked up to her car window and shot her twice in the head before fleeing the area.

Vasquez was traced the next day to New Hope, Pa., and was arrested during an intensive investigation by Detective Monica Shearer, Detective Dennis Yuhasz, and Detective Eric Tighelaar of the South Brunswick Police Department and Detectives Craig Marchak and Grace Brown of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The murder was the first shooting death in the township in 26 years.
