Burr Ridge Police Announce arrest in Residential Burglary, Stolen Motor Vehicle, Investigations.

Burr Ridge Police Arrest Subject for Residential Burglary
Burr Ridge Police have charged 24 year-old Jeffery A. Velarde of Lemont, IL with residential burglary and possession of a stolen motor vehicle after officers investigated a string of burglaries which occurred in the early morning hours of September 30, 2017.
On September 30, 2017 at approximately 1:30 AM, Burr Ridge Officers responded to the Kraml subdivision (87th Street and Madison) to investigate report of two suspicious subjects in the area. While searching for the subjects, officers were called to investigate a burglary in the 120 block of Kraml Drive. The resident reported that someone entered their garage and rummaged through vehicles inside. Officers were unable to locate offenders at that time.
Later in the morning, police received additional reports of burglaries, and one report of a stolen motor vehicle, in the Falling Waters Subdivision (9100 block of Falling Waters Drive East, and 9500 block of Falling Waters Drive East.) The stolen vehicle, a 2005 Volvo, was recovered after 10 AM in the 10S600 block of Lilac Lane, unincorporated DuPage County.
Burr Ridge Officers determined that credit cards taken during the reported burglaries were used at the Taco Bell, 75th Street and Cass Avenue, Darien, and Wal-Mart, 75th Street and Lemont Road, Darien. Images obtained from these establishments led to the identification of Velarde, and another uncharged individual.
On October 2, 2017, Burr Ridge Investigators located Velarde staying at an apartment in the 16W500 block of Mockingbird Lane, unincorporated DuPage County. He was taken into custody without incident and brought to the Burr Ridge Police Department where he was processed and transferred to the DuPage County jail to await a bond hearing.
Velarde was charged with Residential Burglary, a Class 1 felony, and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, a Class 2 Felony.
