Wrong-way driver causes collision, continues to drive on wrong side of road and collides with 2 parked vehicles

LOCATION: 9th at Central, Highland
SUSPECT(S): Leonel Ramirez Ramirez, age 37 of Highland
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, October 1, 2017, deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to the report of a major injury traffic collision that had occurred at westbound 9th and Central in Highland. When deputies arrived, they found the driver of a Toyota SUV with severe injuries still in his vehicle. The suspect vehicle, a burgundy Dodge Ram pickup, continued onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into two more vehicles that were parked on the south side of 9th Street. The suspect driver, Leonel Ramirez Ramirez was also injured. Both victim and suspect were transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The case will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
