The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

September 28th

1138 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 43 year old Newark male for possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at the EZ-8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1534 Hours: Officer Rivas responded to a disturbance at the Towne Place Suites, 39802 Cedar Boulevard. A 48 year old Newark female was issued a citation for trespassing and released at the scene.

1822 Hours: Officer Johnson responded to Macy’s, NewPark Mall for a shoplifting suspect in custody. The suspect, a 20 year old Fremont female was issued a citation and released.

2106 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated an auto burglary at L&L Hawaiian BBQ, 6185 Jarvis Avenue. The loss was backpacks containing a laptop computer.

0019 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated an auto burglary at Chipotle, 34883 Newark Boulevard. The loss was a backpack containing a MacBook Pro.

September 29th

0652 Hours: Officers conducted a probation search on the 6500 block of Normandy Drive. A 34 year old Newark male was arrested for obstructing and delaying officers and for violating the terms of his probation. A 30 year old Newark female was arrested for obstructing and delaying officers, possessing a controlled substance and for violating the terms of her probation. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1008 Hours: Officer Wang investigated a three vehicle auto accident on Newark Boulevard near the Community Center. An 18 year old Newark female driver swerved to avoid a collision with a fourth vehicle which left the scene and she subsequently sideswiped two un-occupied vehicles. The driver was able to drive her car away from the scene.

1112 Hours: Officers responded to the 37100 block of Sycamore Avenue to follow-up on an earlier disturbance at that address. A 40 year old Newark male was arrested for criminal threats and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2000 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a multi-unit burglary at Public Storage, 37444 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is unknown at this time.

2032 Hours: Officer Hunter and Field Training Officer Arroyo conducted a routine traffic stop on Central Avenue at Cherry Street. The driver, a 57 year old San Leandro male was arrested for his outstanding warrant and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

2315 Hours: Officers Hunter and Field Training Officer Arroyo recovered a 2007 Chevrolet C2500 work truck reported stolen out of San Jose on Campus Court. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

0136 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated a non-injury solo vehicle accident on Balentine Drive.

September 30th

0534 Hours: Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 27 year old Oakland male for his outstanding warrant on the 39800 block of Cedar Boulevard. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2113 Hours: Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 26 year old Daly City female for driving under the influence on Thornton Avenue at Walnut Street. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2357 Hours: Officer Hunter and Field Training Officer Arroyo investigated the theft of a cell phone by a co-worker at the Amazon facility, 38811 Cherry Street. The phone was ultimately returned to the rightful owner.

October 1st

1017 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated an auto burglary on the 38700 block of Quince Place. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

1231 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 25 year old transient male for carrying a concealed weapon and probation violation on the 36600 block of Newark Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1840 Hours: Officer Hunter and Field Training Officer Arroyo investigated a robbery which occurred in the parking lot of All Star burger, 6950 Thornton Avenue. The loss is a cell phone.

1901 Hours: Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 29 year old Newark Male for his outstanding warrant during a traffic stop on Edgewater Drive. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2103 Hours: Officer Hunter and Field Training Officer Arroyo investigated an auto accident with injuries on Cherry Street at Central Avenue. One person was transported to a local hospital with a complaint of pain.

2218 Hours: Officer Losier investigated an auto accident on Cedar Boulevard at Civic Terrace. The driver, a 22 year old Newark male, had hit a parked vehicle. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
