Yesterday, September 29th, 2017, at about 11 a.m., Clayton County Police responded to a 911 call about a man that had been run over by a car and killed in the parking lot of the Home Depot located in Morrow on Mt. Zion Rd.

Members of The Clayton County Police Major Felony Unit commanded by Captain Wilfred Norwood responded quickly and began an investigation.  Ironically,  this was Captain Norwood's last day in command of the unit.

Major felony detectives quickly put the story together and was able to obtain video of the incident and of the suspect's vehicle within one hour.

Within a few hours after leaving the scene of the incident, major felony detectives returned to the Clayton County Police Headquarters and begin to analyze the complex  information that they had compiled.  By 4 p.m. Clayton County detectives, with the help of an observant uniform officer and the public had identified the suspect's vehicle and identified the suspect as 65 year old Murray Blackmon.  It was discovered that the Blackmon had an extensive criminal history and a method of doing Craig List scams while driving off with innocent people's money.

By 8 p.m.,Murray Blackmon  was in custody, and he is now facing the wall at Georgia's toughest para-military jail.

Captain Norwood who will be assuming command of the Clayton County Police Crimes Against Property Unit can take great pride in the fact that he and his team of detectives solved a heinous crime in less than 24 hours.   They are to be commended for a job well done!
