On September 26, 2017, at 3:08 p.m. Deputy U.B. Smith conducted a traffic stop on a Green 2003 Dodge Caravan on US 41 near County Road 550 South after observing that the driver of the vehicle was not wearing their seatbelt. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith detected the odor of burnt Marijuana coming from the vehicle and began a roadside investigation. During the investigation the driver 39 year old Anthony Brown of Maceo, Kentucky gave Deputy Smith a false name and date of birth in an attempt to hinder Deputy Smith’s investigation. Once Mr. Brown was properly identified he was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Possession of Marijuana and False Informing. Mr. Brown remains in custody on a $650 bond.
