Narrative:
On 9/20/2017, Camarillo Station Detectives arrested Manuel Garcia for contacting a minor and committing a sexual offense.

On 9/10/2017, a teenage male victim contacted the Camarillo Police Department and reported an incident in which he had been sexually assaulted by a male adult. The teenage victim had told deputies that an unknown male suspect had offered him a ride while the victim was walking on Arneill Drive, in Camarillo. The victim, who continued to walk until he reached Mobil Avenue, accepted the ride and during the ride the victim was sexually assaulted. The suspect also propositioned the victim and the victim rejected the proposition.  The victim told the suspect to stop the vehicle and the victim was able to exit the vehicle once it was stopped.

The victim was able to provide police with details about the suspect and his vehicle. After learning about the incident, the Camarillo Police Department put out a press release asking the public for help in identifying the suspect. A few days later, the suspect came to the Camarillo Police Department and asked to speak to Detectives regarding the press release. Detectives conducted an investigation and identified the suspect (S) as Manuel Garcia.

On 9/20/2017, Camarillo Detectives contacted (S) Garcia near his home in Camarillo and arrested him for PC 288.3(a) – Contacting or communicating with a minor to commit an offense.  Garcia was arrested without incident.

The Camarillo Police Department would like to remind parents to discuss with their children what to do if they are approached by a stranger.  Please talk to your children and remind them to walk in groups and never enter a stranger’s vehicle.
