The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

September 21st

0617 Hours: Officer Lenz investigated the theft of a red 2015 Subaru Impreza (CA License #7NFN356) on the 6100 block of Civic Terrace.

1010 Hours: Officer Pacheco recovered a Pontiac GTO that was reported stolen out of Hayward on the 6600 block of Normandy Drive.

1421 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated an auto burglary on the 6000 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue. The loss was miscellaneous paperwork.

1438 Hours: Officer Pacheco responded to a disturbance on the 36800 block of Cherry Street. A 39 year old Newark male was arrested for battery and probation violation. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

September 22nd

1218 Hours: Officer Lenz contacted and arrested a 53 year old transient male for possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1606 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 40 year old San Leandro male for his outstanding warrants at the EZ8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2146 Hours: Officer Johnson contacted an 18 year old Newark Male on Bridgepoint Drive at Idlewild Court for having false registration tabs on his vehicle. The suspect was issued a citation and the license plates were seized.

2355 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated two auto burglaries on the 35100 block of Newark Boulevard. The loss was cash, an external hard drive and miscellaneous items.

September 23rd

1000 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated two auto burglaries on the 36900 block of Cherry Street. The loss was sunglasses.

1530 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated a theft from a vehicle parked at Residence Inn, 35466 Dumbarton Court. Entry was made through an open window. The loss is a cell phone.

2226 Hours: Officer Johnson was in the area of Thornton Avenue and Willow Street when he overheard on the police radio that the Fremont Police Department was breaking up a sideshow on Dumbarton Circle. About 50 vehicles fled into Newark and started a small side show in the area of Thornton Avenue and Hickory Street. Additional units were requested and several car stops were made. One vehicle was doing donuts in a parking lot and when Officer Johnson went to stop the car it initially failed to yield. It then drove down a narrow driveway of an uninvolved residence on Thornton Avenue. A felony car stop was conducted and a 22 year old Oakland male was taken into custody. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

0002 Hours: Officer Hunter and Field Training Officer Arroyo contacted and arrested a 22 year old Newark male for driving under the influence on Cedar Boulevard at Lake Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0009 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 31 year old Oakland male for driving under the influence on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

September 24th

0636 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated the theft of outdoor event tent parts at the Neighborhood Church, 38325 Cedar Boulevard.

0836 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated the theft of two generators and miscellaneous construction equipment from a locked storage container at the Bayshores construction site on Central Avenue at Willow Street.

1235 Hours: Officers conducted warrant searches at the EZ8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. Officer Musantry arrested a 44 year old Fremont female for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempting to destroy evidence. Officer Musantry also arrested a 49 year old Union City male for possession of a controlled substance. Both suspects were issued citations and released at the scene. Officer Pacheco arrested a 27 year old Hayward male for his outstanding felony warrant, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2024 Hours: Officer Simon seized the license plate off a motorcycle for false registration on the 5600 block of Thornton Avenue. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
