At 3:51 a.m., officers responded to Moraine and Bonde for a collision and a battery.  Officers arrived and found a Ford Mustang on the grass next to a brick wall with airbags deployed and a male lying on the grass near the vehicle.  The male was conscious, but not clear about what had occurred.  What officers were able to learn was that the 19 year old male victim met a female companion, which he had contacted via Backpage.com, near the area of Mowry and Lexington.  When a dispute about money started, the companion’s friend demanded money from the victim and got in the victim’s passenger seat.  Fearing for his safety, the victim drove erratic as the companion was following in a second vehicle.  The suspect in the passenger seat grabbed the steering wheel and the vehicle crashed at Moraine and Bonde.  The victim was then battered by both suspects outside the vehicle and then both suspects fled in a Subaru type vehicle.  The vehicle was captured on one of the City’s community cameras exiting the City onto I880.  The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.  This is an ongoing investigation.
