The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

September 19th

1010 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated a residential burglary on the 5900 block of Mayhews Landing Road.

1306 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an auto burglary on the 5100 block of Dupont Avenue. The loss is nail gun, compressor, saw and other miscellaneous tools.

1321 Hours: Officers responded to the 6500 block of Normandy Drive to conduct a felony warrant service/ probation search. A 34 year old Newark male was arrested for his outstanding warrant and booked into the Fremont Jail. A 41 year old male and a 35 year old female, both from Newark, were contacted and issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia and released at the scene.

1446 Hours: Officers responded to a single vehicle accident on the 8300 block of Juniper Street. Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 46 year old Newark male for driving under the influence. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail after being medically cleared at a local hospital.

1658 Hours: Officers and Detectives responded to a disturbance on the 35500 block of Biscay Place. A 32 year old Newark male was arrested for assault and booked into the Fremont Jail. The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

2115 Hours: Officer Norvell investigated an auto burglary in the parking lot of Nijo Castle, 39888 Balentine Drive.

2348 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated an auto-burglary that occurred in front of the Fairwood Café, 35204 Newark Boulevard. The suspect/s entered the vehicle by breaking a window. Once inside the vehicle, the suspect/s folded the rear seat down to gain access to a laptop computer in the trunk.
