Family Dollar Armed Robber Who Took Hostages Captured With Hostages Safe & Unharmed. Sheriff Victor Hill

Last night 45 year old Terry Dean entered the rear of the Family Dollar located at Hwy 138 & Hwy 85  and held up the store at gun point while  zip tying two employees. Both individuals who were zipped tied managed to escape and call 911.  Police Officers from Clayton PD & Sheriff's Deputies sealed off the location while the manager remained held at gunpoint.

During the stand off, Dean discharged his 9mm firearm four times, shooting out a front window of the store.  It is believed he was shooting at officers on scene.  At this point Clayton County Police activated their elite S.W.A.T. team to respond to the scene.

With no possibility of escape and realizing that he was starting a battle he was not going to win, Dean told authorities he would come out unarmed.   Cowardly, Dean came out walking behind the remaining hostage unarmed out of fear of being shot

Dean is a convicted felon who is currently on Federal Probation.  He was charged with numerous felonies to include Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, and Aggravated Assault on Police Officers.  He also matches the description of a suspect in several armed robberies in the area.   Dean now is now facing the wall in Georgia's toughest para-military where he will never be able to rob anyone again.

We want to commend the Sheriff's Deputies and Police Officers that handled this incident for not only the excellent police work, but consistent unparalleled team work.  No where in Georgia will you find two major law- enforcement agencies that respond simultaneously to scenes and work so well together!
