***************UPDATE**************
September 13th, 2017
Today, at about 5 PM, SMPD Dispatch received a call from an observant community member who directed our officers to the 2700 block of Hacienda where the assault suspect was located.  The community member saw the photograph of the suspect on our social media sites and immediately called SMPD.  The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Sherry Benally. Benally was arrested and booked into San Mateo County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon (not firearm) and elder abuse with great bodily injury.

We wanted to thank the community member who did not hesitate to call SMPD.  This is a perfect example of how our community and police department work together too quickly and safely take into custody a dangerous person.
