62nd Annual Newark Days parade this Saturday, September 16, 2017. Be aware of road closures

NEWARK DAYS IS HERE!
The 62nd Annual Newark Days Parade will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Parade information along with the start and staging areas for the Newark Mile Run can be located on the Newark Days website, www.NewarkDays.org or City of Newark website at www.newark.org.

Road closures will take place to accommodate the Newark Mile Run and Newark Days Parade. It is anticipated the parade will conclude at approximately 1:00 p.m. Road closures may change as parade and event needs dictate. No Parking signs, with the affected times, are posted on and around the Parade route. Please make sure vehicles are moved in accordance to the posted signs to assist in making sure your vehicle is not towed.

All intersections along the parade route will be closed to through traffic except for Newark Blvd. at Thornton Ave. This intersection will experience traffic delays due to the intermittent closures for the movement of parade participants.

Road Closures are as follows:
From 6:00 a.m. to the end of the parade:
Newark Blvd. northbound from Central Ave. to Thornton Ave.
Civic Terrace Ave. (both directions) from St. Edwards to Newark Blvd
Civic Terrace Ave. (both directions) from Newark Blvd. to the Library parking lot.

From 7:00 a.m. to the end of the parade:
Newark Blvd, northbound to Cedar Blvd
Mayhews Landing Rd (both directions) from Fair Ave. to Newark Blvd.
Cedar Blvd. southbound from Newark Blvd. to McDonald Ave.
Cedar Blvd. northbound from Edgewater Dr. to Newark Blvd.

Southbound traffic along Newark Blvd will stay open to Thornton Ave. No traffic will be allowed onto Newark Blvd. along the parade route.

THERE WILL BE NO PEDESTRAIN TRAFFIC ALLOWED ON THE CENTER MEDIAN OF THE PARADE ROUTE ALONG NEWARK BLVD. OR CEDAR BLVD. SEATING IS ALLOWED AT THE SIDEWALKS

Persons needing access to City Hall may do so by traveling eastbound on Thornton Ave. from Cherry St. or westbound on Thornton Ave., making a U-turn at Arden St. and traveling back eastbound. There is a driveway to access City Hall just beyond the Washington Hospital Clinic, 6236 Thornton Ave.
