Water Quality Alert at Alameda Point

East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) has found evidence of non-drinkable/non-usable water in the Alameda Point drinking water system.

The City of Alameda has issued a water quality alert to the Alameda Point area:
·       Do not drink water from faucets
·       Do not use tap water for brushing teeth, washing dishes, cooking, or pets

This alert is isolated to Alameda Point due to the nature of the Navy infrastructure at the former Base, and does not affect the water quality anywhere else in Alameda.

This water quality alert will be in place for the next 48 hours, or until you receive notification from the City of Alameda that the water is safe to drink and use.

For those in the Alameda Point neighborhood, crews are conducting flushing to restore water quality to the distribution system. City staff is providing bottled water, which can be picked up at the Alameda Point Collaborative Office - 677 W. Ranger Avenue. The water being provided at these locations will be left outside, can be picked up 24 hours a day, and is only for those affected by this issue.

East Bay MUD is working on identifying the source of the problem and resolving the problem. We expect to have further information in 48 hours and will provide an update as soon as we have additional information. Please contact Erin Smith, Deputy Director of Public Works, at (510) 747-7938 if you have additional questions.
