Thefts From Vehicles On The Rise In Ripon

In the last 6 weeks, the Ripon Police Department has received 24 reports of thefts from vehicles. These reports include window-smash entries and thefts from unlocked vehicles. Stouffer Park, the Ripon River Crossing (Bike Bridge) and the Mistlin Sports Park have all experienced vehicle burglaries.

Window-smash vehicle burglaries are on the rise in Ripon neighborhoods.

During the night of 09-11-17 to the morning of 09-12-17, the department received 11 reports of vehicle burglaries in Ripon neighborhoods. A number of these thefts involved window-smash entries.

The Ripon Police Department is asking citizens to take the following actions to reduce crime in our city:

• Park your vehicle in your garage

• Remove all valuables from your vehicle (Note: Loose change, phone chargers, kids toys or an old jacket are all valuable to a drug addicted thief)

• Lock your vehicle

• Use your vehicle alarm

• Don’t try to hide valuables under the seat or cover them up. (Remove all valuables from the vehicle)

• Call the police if you see or hear anything suspicious. (We appreciate all calls & we respond to all calls!)

Please help us keep Ripon safe.
