#LASD Death Investigation, 3000 blk of Alabama Street, La Crescenta

On September 8, 2017, at approximately 7:05 a.m., Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 3000 Block of Alabama Street, La Crescenta, regarding an emergency call for a person not breathing.

When deputies arrived at the location, they found a male white adult, 35 years-old, who appeared to be suffering from an apparent overdose of an illicit narcotic substance.

Responding deputies immediately performed Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on the unresponsive male, and deployed Narcan® spray in an attempt to revive him. Paramedics arrived on scene shortly thereafter and took over lifesaving procedures.

Unfortunately, the unresponsive male was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of death and identification of the male will be made by The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

There is no further information available at this time.

ABOUT NARCAN® AND THE LASD
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies have been carrying Narcan®, since Sheriff Jim McDonnell authorized the deployment in June of 2017.  More than 1,200 doses of Narcan® have  been issued to deputy personnel assigned to Crescenta Valley, East Los Angeles and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Stations, and Community Colleges and Parks Bureaus, as part of the intervention pilot program in attempt to reduce the amounts of opioid overdose.
