Police Blotter August 29th through September 3rd

August 29th

Residential Burglary – 800 block of Bates Ave:
At 0739 hours, an officer responded to the report of a burglary. In between 1700 hours on August 28th and 0700 hours, on August 29th, an unknown suspect pried the garage door of this residence under construction and stole approximately $12,000 worth of construction equipment, primarily concrete tools.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave and Cutting Blvd:
At 0156 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, a 32-year-old male from Oakley, for driving while under the influence. The male was booked and released on a citation.

Domestic Battery – 2000 block of Tapscott Ave:
At 0213 hours, officer were dispatched to roommates who were arguing and possibly fighting. Officers arrived on scene and detained a male and a 21-year-old female form Modesto and determined the female had assaulted her boyfriend. The female was booked and transported to county jail.

August 30th

Threats - 10650 San Pablo Ave:
At 0914 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject threatening employees at CVS. He located a 45-year-old El Cerrito man nearby. The subject harasses the manager on a daily basis and threatened to shoot her. He has been previously banned from the store. The manager is so frightened of him and what he might do, she hides in the office when he arrives. Today he arrived at the store and threatened the manager again. He was placed under citizen’s arrest, booked and transported to the MDF.

Grand Theft / Auto Theft - 5300 block of Cypress Ave:
At 1014 hours, Officers responded to the report of an interrupted theft. Witnesses saw a two 28-year-old Richmond women removing property from a work van and loading it into a stolen Honda. Witnesses tried to detain the two subjects and a fight ensued. One suspect ran north and the other suspect ran south. The suspect who fled north became entrapped within a yard of a residence and was unable to get out. She was taken into custody. Follow up investigation led to the location and arrest of the second woman at the 40 Flags Motel. One of the women was wanted on three warrants. Both were arrested, booked and transported to the MDF.

Theft - 1000 EC Plaza:
At 1357 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft at Lucky’s. Two suspects loaded up a cart with laundry detergent and fled to a white Toyota Corolla. They formed a fire brigade and started loading the car with the stolen soap. The first suspect was described as a black female, 18-20 years old, wearing a white shirt, black sleeves and blue jeans and approximately, 5’6” tall and heavyset. The second suspect was described as a black female, thin build, 5’06” burgundy shirt, long black hair and highlights and jeans shorts. Lucky’s employee’s intervened and a struggle over the property ensued. The employees were able to recover some of the property. The suspects fled in the vehicle, northbound on San Pablo Avenue.

Grand Theft - 11780 San Pablo Ave:
At 1524 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft that just occurred. A black male, 45-years-old, thin build, 5’06” bald head wearing a blue shirt and pants stole two pairs of sunglasses worth $1100 from the display. He fled westbound onto San Pablo Avenue.

Warrant Arrest – 11350 San Pablo Ave:
At 2131 hours, an officer responded to an unwanted person and contacted a 35 year old male from Sacrament and determined he had a warrant from Sacramento County. The male was booked then transported to county jail.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Jefferson St:
At 2326 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 42-year-old female from Oakland for an outstanding warrant from Alameda County. The female was booked and then taken to county jail.

August 31st

Auto Burglary – 9900 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 0856 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. A black male adult, 20’s gray hooded sweatshirt, bleached and ripped jeans and white tennis shoes and driving a new model gray Jeep Grand Cherokee with black and yellow dealer plates smashed the window of a parked vehicle and stole a backpack. The crime was captured on video.

Warrant Arrest - Cutting Blvd / I-80:
At 1418 hours, an officer spotted a female dancing in the street with her Chihuahua. She was wanted on two misdemeanor warrants and was arrested.

Shoplifter - (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1440 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifter. A black male, 5’10, 20’s, 200+ lbs, red “Nelson” basketball jersey and short dreads with yellow tips stole eight cases of Monster energy drinks. He fled through the parking lot but apparently got tired of carrying them and tossed them. He ran to the parking lot of Del Norte BART.

Shoplifting and Probation Violation - 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 1914 hours Officers were dispatched to Safeway in regard to a theft that had just occurred. Officer contacted a 36-year-old male and determined he had stolen items from the business. The male was also on probation. The male was taken to county jail.

September 1st

Vehicle theft – 11344 San Pablo Ave:
An officer reports that the victim’s 1998 Honda Accord was stolen while he was dining in the restaurant.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 11344 San Pablo Ave:
While investigating the above theft, the officer located a 1996 Honda Accord parked in the parking lot, running. A check revealed the car was stolen from Martinez earlier in the morning.

Criminal threats – 10900 San Pablo Ave:
Records staff received three phone calls from a heavily intoxicated Hispanic male. When asked how he could be helped, he began using derogatory language and threatened to do damage to the police department.

Narcotics Possession - Key Blvd / Knott Ave:
At 2347 hours an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check and contacted a 36-year-old Rodeo man and determined he was in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe. It was further determined he was a convicted felon and was in possession of pepper spray. The man was cite released from ECPD.

Narcotics Possession - 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 2353 hours an officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted a passenger in the vehicle, a 48-year-old San Pablo woman, and determined she was in possession of methamphetamine. The woman was cite released from ECPD.

DUI - San Pablo Ave / Panama Ave:
At 0218 hours an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 25-year-old San Pablo man for DUI. The man was cite released from ECPD.

Narcotics Possession - Knott Ave / BART Path:
At 0232 hours an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 27-year-old Richmond man for being in possession of methamphetamine. The man was cite released from ECPD.

September 2nd

Riding a bicycle under the influence – Wall Ave / San Pablo Ave:
An officer witnessed a 36-year-old Richmond man riding a bicycle, drinking a beer. The officer stopped the man and found that he was extremely intoxicated. The man was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released at his residence.

Domestic battery – 11800 block of San Pablo Ave:
During a verbal argument, a 34-year-old Richmond woman threw an iced coffee in her husband’s face. The woman fled prior to police arrival.

Shoplifting - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 1923 hours officers were sent to the business in regards to a theft that had just occurred. An officer located both involved suspects leaving the scene and they were in possession of the stolen property. A 47-year-old Vallejo man and a 38-year-old Oakland man were contacted and identified as the responsible for the theft. Both subjects were cited released.

Warrant Arrest - Santa Clara Ave / Lassen St:
At 2100 hours an officer was sent to Creekside Park in regard to loiterers. Upon arrival a 27-year-old Sacramento woman was contacted and determined to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The woman was transported to ECPD for processing and then booked into County Jail.

DUI - San Pablo Ave / Eastshore Blvd:
At 2146 hours an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 66-year-old San Pablo man for DUI. The man was booked into County Jail.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery - Madison Ave / Kearney St:
At 2204 hours an officer located an unoccupied stolen vehicle. The vehicle, a 2008 Toyota Tacoma, had been reported stolen to BART PD on 08/30/17 from the Richmond BART station. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Narcotics Possession - San Pablo Ave / Cutting Blvd:
At 0134 hours an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and contacted a 24-year-old Richmond man and determined he was in possession of methamphetamine. The man was cite released from ECPD.

September 3rd

Trespassing, Tampering with a fire extinguisher, Warrant arrest – 1751 Eastshore Blvd:
Officers were dispatched to the vacant business for an audible alarm. Officers located an 18-year-old Pittsburg man and a 23-year-old Richmond man walking on the property. Both stated they had entered the building to scavenge and discharged a fire extinguisher inside. Both were arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. During booking, the 23-year-old man was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. After booking, he was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. The 18-year-old man was released.

Sex offender failure to register – 10290 San Pablo Ave:
An officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 47-year-old transient man for failing to register as a sex offender every 30 days. The man’s last known registration was in March of 2016. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant arrest – 11565 San Pablo Ave:
An officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 51-year-old Oakland man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest - 1200 Block Everett St:
At 0259 hours an officer was sent to the area in regard to a suspicious person. Upon arrival a 32-year-old El Cerrito woman was contacted and determined to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The woman was transported to ECPD for processing and cite released.
