South Brunswick Citizen Police Academy OPENINGS

South Brunswick Police are letting people know that there are still a few spots available for the upcoming Citizen Police Academy. The highly acclaimed program allows for a behind the scenes look at policing. The 11 week program gives participants a first-hand view of everyday policing from traffic enforcement to crime scene processing to interview and interrogation. The class instructed by a dozen officers with expertise in different aspects of policing. Academy participants will use simulators to teach them about realistic use of force situations and pursuit driving. The Academy culminates with a day of practical exercises were students will handle simulated motor vehicle stops, disputes, and other realistic scenarios.

Chief Raymond Hayducka said, “Participants in our Citizen Police Academy consistently give positive reviews about the academy. They often speak about how going through the academy gave them a better perspective on police work and stronger connections to the police department.” The Academy will start on September 12th.  Classes will be held every Tuesday night in the training center at police headquarters from 6:30pm-9:30pm.
