Highland Transient Arrested for Assaulting a Peace Officer 
DATE/TIME: Tuesday August 29th, 2017 – 9:40 a.m.
INCIDENT: PC 243(b) – Assault on a Peace Officer
LOCATION: Baseline St. east of Del Rosa Ave - Warm Creek Wash
SUSPECT(S): Carlos Camacho, 23, a transient of the City of Highland, CA
VICTIM: Confidential
SUMMARY: Highland Station deputies assisted Highland City Public Works with transients living in Warm Creek wash and tunnel under Baseline St. A deputy made contact with Camacho who was sleeping in the tunnel and conducted a records check on him. Camacho was found to be on active parole with a no bail warrant for his arrest. When the deputy attempted to take him into custody, Camacho resisted and assaulted the deputy, then fled the scene on foot. He was apprehended a short distance later and taken into custody. The deputy was not injured in the altercation.
Camacho was transported and booked at West Valley Detention Center and is being held without bail.
