TIPS FOR SEPTEMBER- HUNTING SEASON
September will bring the start of dove season. Individuals visiting the Gorman area to exercise their hunting privileges should remember that discharging a firearm in, at, or near a home or business is prohibited.
1. Hunting within the Angeles National Forest is allowed dependent upon fire danger conditions and location near roads or occupied structures. Forest Rangers can be contacted at 661-269-2808 and advise hunters when and where they can safely engage in hunting.
2. Most areas outside the confines of the national forest are now too close to homes for engaging in hunting. Some private property exists which meets the requirements for shotgun hunting, but if you do not have written permission from the property owner, with a contact number for the owner so the note can be verified, do not hunt on the property.
3. If you are contacted by a law enforcement officer while hunting, DO NOT touch or manipulate your weapon. Wait for the officer to give you instructions on what to do with the weapon.
